About Us
Joe Barlow began Barlow Construction in January of 1996. He incorporated as Becco, Inc. doing business as two companies that would allow him to cover both sides of the growing business, Barlow Construction as the construction side of the company and Barlow & Associates as the management side. Early construction clients included St. Dominic Hospital, Southern Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Co. and Belhaven University. The renovation of Northpark Mall and the addition of the Food Court at Northpark Mall are examples of early project management work.
Moving into the 2000’s, Barlow found themselves with more opportunity for construction jobs and less for project management. With more employees, Barlow could better keep pace with the growing work while maintaining the high-quality standards for which they had become known.

In 2008, during the economic downturn, Barlow structured it’s services to match the changing economy. By using contractors, they could match demand and stay flexible. Project management started to pick back up at this point, and one such management project was working closely with the Holmes County Board of Supervisors to help restructure projects allowing these projects to be completed within budget. 2010 saw another change in the type of services Barlow would provide. Business owners needed help with maintenance and upkeep, Barlow saw this need and worked closely with owners to provide as little or as much help as the owner needed to maintain their building investments.
During this time, Barlow recruited Michele Hall, who brought the accounting expertise needed to keep Barlow on firm fiscal footing. Over the next couple of years, Beck and Cole Barlow, Joe Barlow’s sons joined the team. Beck went on to pursue other interests, but Cole continued on with the company and has become the next generation of Barlows in the business.
